GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A key component of this position is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an appropriate Credit Union solution. The Consumer Sales Consultant is responsible for increasing the consumer loan portfolio by originating new loan business utilizing a variety of internal and external leads. This position will solicit business from potential, new, and seasoned members by offering relevant loans, deposit products, and services specifically selected to help meet the member's financial goals. Leads generated by but not limited to Indirect, Mortgage, New Accounts, Trans Union lists/prescreens, and existing member reports will be used to expand the financial relationship of Arkansas Federal membership. The Consumer Sales Consultant must have extensive knowledge of policies and procedures related to loan products, deposit products, and various credit union services. Note: This is a sales position and will have individual sales standards and goals.

  1. Acquire and develop new relationships through outbound\inbound calling using consultative skills to offer appropriate products and services to existing members.
  2. Relay and discuss underwriting decisions with the applicant including terms, pricing, collateral value, credit history, and denial reasons if applicable.
  3. Knowledge of and ability to process loan documents as needed. This includes preparing documents for closing, funding loans and booking loans into the core system.
  4. Responsible for cross-selling financial products and services appropriate to each member's personal financial needs, including-but not limited to, GAP coverage, Depreciation Protection, Extended Warranty coverage, Vehicle Protection Package and Debt Protection. Process products by issuing contracts and/or cancellations as necessary.
  5. Open various deposit accounts as a result of cross-selling.
  6. Compile required information for completion of loans through member interviews, credit union records, credit reports and other sources as necessary.
  7. Read and interpret credit reports and explain information to members and team members as needed.
  8. Interact with members and team members via telephone, e-mail, fax, texting\SMS, or mail to obtain documentation, stipulations and/or additional information needed to complete loan\deposit requests.
  9. Ensure loan stipulations made by the underwriter are met and follow up with members resulting in closed and funded loans.
  10. Identify potential problems with loan applications and assist applicant in arriving at workable solutions with the assistance of the loan underwriting team. Review, analyze, and prepare completed and contracted applications to ensure completeness and accuracy before sending to processing for booking and funding. This includes verifying rates, stipulations, documentation, and collateral value if applicable.
  11. Create, maintain, and manage tracking spreadsheets on outstanding loans to ensure efficient and timely follow up and funding.
  12. Maintain extensive knowledge on all aspects of loan products and documentation.
  13. Contribute to and work special promotional activities and loan specials as needed.
  14. Assist members primarily through electronic channels with all requests regarding their membership; all AFCU loan and deposit products; and all AFCU services while providing each member with the “one stop” philosophy, ensuring the delivery of a consistent high-quality experience on every member interaction.
  15. Assist in ensuring the security of all sensitive information and materials needed for daily operation of the Consumer Sales team.
  16. Meet and maintain individual productivity and sales standards as established by management.
  17. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years related experience
