    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

    The primary function of this position is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an appropriate Arkansas Federal Credit Union solution. This position is responsible for opening of new memberships and accounts, performing teller transactions, and other various maintenance functions that require a thorough knowledge of Arkansas Federal Credit Union policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Effectively communicate with members and team members in person, via telephone, e-mail, fax, or mail to obtain documentation or additional information needed to complete the member's request.

     

    1. Provide information on accounts, services, interest rates, fees, policies and procedures, and any additional information that the member or team member may be requesting in person, via telephone, e-mail, fax, or mail.

     

    1. Responsible for receiving deposits, loan payments, disbursing withdrawals by cash and check, and cashing checks for members.

     

    1. Responsible for posting maintenance transactions such as ATM deposit items to the general ledger.

     

    1. Responsible for selling cashier checks to members. Responsible for processing VISA cash advances for members and non-members. Responsible for balancing and remitting VISA cash advances (as assigned).

     

    1. Responsible for originating consumer loan requests by members and submit applications for approval through the proper channels after obtaining all relevant information. Responsible for reviewing loan decisions with member. Strive to establish and/or maintain member goodwill by assisting members with determining alternative methods of financing when necessary and refer members with financial difficulties to Consumer Credit Counseling. Responsible for scheduling and/or performing loan closings on consumer loans.

     

    1. Responsible for balancing of the ATMs daily under dual control (as assigned), ensuring that an adequate supply of receipts and envelopes are maintained.

     

    1. Responsible for opening the night depository (as assigned), list and/or post transactions, mail receipts, and ensuring the night depository maintains adequate supply of envelopes.

     

    1. Responsible for cross-selling financial services appropriate to each member's personal financial needs, such as AFCU Retirement and Investment Services as appropriate.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with any account maintenance including such things as updating account ownerships and borrowers, name changes, address changes, beneficiaries, and any other account maintenance that must be completed on the membership.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with opening, closing, processing maturity requests and total or partial withdrawals on Share Certificate accounts.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - opening, performing maintenance, accepting contributions, and performing distributions.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) - opening, performing maintenance, accepting contributions, and performing distributions.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with Bank and Western Union wires, both domestic and international.

     

    1. Responsible for assisting members with opening and closing any accounts and/or memberships. Responsible for assisting members with opening, closing, and allowing entry into safe deposit boxes.

     

    1. Assist members with ordering credit, debit, or ATM cards and with the blocking of those cards when lost or stolen.

     

    1. Process deceased accounts from the point of notification to completion; act as liaison with other departments until all processes complete.

     

    1. Issue GAP Coverage contracts, Extended Warranty contracts, and Debt Protection.

     

    1. Meet and maintain department performance metrics as measured through productivity, sales, and quality initiatives including-but not limited to telephone abandon rate, hold time, unavailable time, and service factor level.

     

    1. Responsible for balancing all work at the end of the work day.

     

    1. Assist in mentoring tellers.

     

    1. Assist in reviewing and maintaining all pertinent manual reports, daily/monthly electronic reports, such as those located in Business Intelligence and Nautilus.

     

    1. Assist in ensuring the security of all sensitive information and materials needed for daily operations of the branch.

     

    1. Assist in ensuring the branch cash and branch change fund balance daily with the general ledger.

     

    1. Responsible for maintaining a professional working environment.

     

    1. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
